A Highlight of version 3.1! In Act 3, Flayer Jungle, you may find the entrance of ‘Gangster’s Den’ guarded by ‘Larry’, get inside to fight against Jungle Gang members, then find a Barbarian Boss ‘Beast Tamer’ and ‘Lunatic who Ate the Assistant’ near a golden chest, killing the Mad Werewolf you’ll get ‘The Director’s Letter’ and ‘Madhouse Key’. If the random map didn’t spawn this area, you can also enter ‘Swampy Pit’ and reach level 3, near the golden chest you’ll find the powerful Will-o-Wisp Boss ‘Swamp Lord’ and ‘Psycho who Ate the Assistant’, killing the Mad Werebear would also get ‘The Director’s Letter’ and ‘Madhouse Key’. put them together into the Cube in Act 3 would open a Red Portal to ‘Druid Madhouse’.

Enter the Madhouse, you’ll face lots of Mad Druid Shapeshifters, in Hell difficulty, the Madhouse is a level 85 area. You can find Two Gateways there, leading you to ‘Quarantine Cave’ and ‘Director’s Sanctum’, ‘Quarantine Cave’ is a battle zone, level 90 in Hell difficulty, ‘Director’s Sanctum’ is the Story Area, level 85 in Hell difficulty, common Mad Shapeshifters won’t give you any experience and drop nothing, deep inside the Sanctum, you’ll find the Madhouse Director being sieged by ‘Lord of Lunatic’, ‘Lord of Psycho’ and their minions, you must kill the monsters before they killing the Director.

The Director would assist you with Two Auras, one would keep healing you and offering massive Exp, Magic and Gold Find bonus, the other is Random. If you successfully saved the Director, would receive nice rewards of experience and droppings from the two Bosses.

Failure Type 1: If the Director was killed during your battle, he would release a Curse to make you unable to get any items higher than Magic quality, and NO experience when killing an enemy, this curse effect can’t be removed unless you got KIA or exit current game.

Failure Type 2: If you leave the battle before the Director’s death, when coming back, the Director would disappear, killing the Bosses would not give you experience, and their dropping quality would be very poor.

Failure Type 3: If you leave the battle too long, nothing would be there when coming back.

Most Indoor or Underground Areas and Outer Areas at Night are now Extremely Dark, so ‘Light Radius’ Stat has become Much More Useful.

All Shrine Effects can now Stack, and won’t be covered by Curses, would no longer decrease duration in Nightmare and Hell Difficulties

Cold Effect and Open Wounds can now be Healed by Wells and Healers.

Selling items to NPC would no longer have a 35000 price cap.

NPC selling and buying prices recalculated, much more reasonable.

More types of items could be acquired through gambling.

Vendor or Gambling Items can now be refreshed thanks to BaseMod.

Nightmare and Hell Difficulty Vendors are now selling Exceptional Items. With unknown BaseMod functions, even Elite ones.

Highest Healing or Mana Potions are being sold since Normal Act 5.

Chemist NPCs are now selling Explosive and Gas Potions.

Jamella’s abandoned girlish voice retrieved~

No more ‘Door Blocking’ monsters, unless specially arranged ones.

Rogue Encampment: Wandering Cows added.

Lut Gholein: Wandering Camels added.

Act 1 outer areas: Friendly Rogues added.

Dark Woods: God Damn it it’s Dark!

Inner Cloister: As ‘Flamespike the Crawler’ and its pack are extremely dangerous, no other monster would be spawned there.

Maggot Lair: Changed its Entrance to a better shape.

Claw Viper Temple: This place would only spawn Vipers, very dangerous.

Trivia: In Chinese or Japanese Languages, common ‘Vipers’ and ‘Pit Vipers’ are using quite different terms that not indicating the ‘Pit Viper’ to be a kind of ‘Viper’, and official Chinese traditional version’s translators used the term for ‘Pit Viper’ on all Viper-typed monsters or items with their names including ‘Viper’ when localizing Diablo II. Due to such reason, some Chinese speaking players insist that the translators had made a mistake and should be strictly fixed to the term for common ‘Vipers’. However, that’s not necessary, AFAIK, English speakers won’t care if a ‘Viper’ is a common one or a ‘Pit Viper’, many Chinese or Japanese Documents referred to ‘Pit Vipers’ are translated to ‘Vipers’ in English, such as an alias of the famous Medieval Japanese Warlord Saito Dosan, the English version is ‘The Viper of Mino’, not ‘The Pit Viper of Mino’.

Act 3 Jungle Areas’ monster spawning changed

Most Act 5 Areas’ monster spawning changed

Worldstone Chamber: Baal would no longer fight alone, many monsters added.

Moo Moo Farm: Much larger monster density.

Pandemonium Areas: Level up to 95

New Level 85 Areas

Act 1: Tristram, Forgotten Tower, All Crypts or Caves except ‘Den of Evil’, Inner Cloister, Cathedral, Burial Grounds.

Act 2: All Tombs including ‘Claw Viper Temple’, All 7 Tal Rasha’s Tombs, All levels of Maggot Lair, Arcane Sanctuary.

Act 3: Great Marsh, All Underground areas.

Act 4: City of the Damned.

Act 5: Frozen Tundra, Drifter Cavern, Icy Cellar.

Easy Level 85 Areas: Some level 85 Areas in Act 1, 2 and 3, mostly Quest related, are counted as ‘Greenhand Friendly’ ones, Guest Monsters there would spawn only One type as common monsters, but ALL Champion or Unique ones are still them~

Act 1: Crypt, Underground Passage Level 1, Forgotten Tower, Cathedral.

Act 2: Halls of the Dead, Maggot Lair, Claw Viper Temple, Secret Sanctuary, Tal-Rasha’s Tombs.

Act 3: Spider Cavern, Great Marsh, Flayer Dungeon, Sewers, Durance of Hate

New Level 90 Areas

Act 1: All Caves’ Second Level, Mausoleum.

Act 3: The Two Temples on Kurast Causeway.

Act 5: Red Portal Hells.

Caution: Level 90 Areas are Extremely Dangerous, massive packs of monsters with great deals of Champions may flood you over.

Corrupt Event

A Highlight of version 3.1! in Hell difficulty, most areas would have a chance to trigger ‘Corrupt Events’, when corrupted, the area would turn dark, and randomly spawning dark red clouds, monsters would also covered by dark red auras, movement velocity, attack speed increased, if monster level lower than 85, would promote to 85, if equal or higher than 85, would promote 5 more levels. Also, corrupted monsters’ hit recovery and block animation length would be reduced to 1F. Item dropping levels would also promote but won’t change the treasure class.
